So, everybodys cancer is different. In Gayes case she has travelled thru her cancer experience relatively unscathed. Due mainly I think to the benefit of early detection.
We are celebrating here post our visit to the oncologist who supported Gayes decision to not take on any further post cancer removal treatment to reduce the chances of recurrence. Should she have taken on either estrogen suppression or estrogen blocking she would have only improved her chances of non-recurrence by 3%. In other words only 3 out of every 100 ladies receive benefit from the drug program. This balanced against the down side of chemical intervention of either increased risk of ovarian cancer or reduced mobility thru arthritic side-effects, she determined on the no drugs option. Which I fully support.
