San Sebastian

Just heard from Sue, who is off to San Sebastian, Spain tomorrow to see why anyone would want to surf at any other place in the world other than Bells Beach.

Clive is Back...

...from his trip to France ans Switzerland. First reports are that he paid for all the good weather we had experienced on our previous trips. More to come after we catch up for a ride and debrief over a coffee.

Very Cold Picnic

We celebated Seya's 10th Annaversary at KDR on Sunday. A great but cold BBQ at Jack Roper Reserve, Broadmedows.

A Quick Visit to Vic and John

On the way back to Melbourne we stopped in on Vic and John for a quick visit.
Took a taxi at the ridiculous price of $105, but worth it as Gaye's sprained foot was still giving her some trouble.
Tapas on Dee Why Beach while we waited for Vic. John Senior continues to rally.

A Couple of Days Camping on Frazer Island

Compliments of the Frazer Island Safari Tours we spent an enjoyable couple of days and one night camping on Frazer Island.
The island is about 125klm long x 25 klm at its widest, completely made up of sand from the Hawksbery River (which is 1000 miles south) The current which runs up the east coast of Australia takes sand from the Hawksbery system and depositis it at Frazer.

Off to Hervey Bay for a Little Sailing

Just returned from a trip to Hervey Bay to spend some time with John and Jenny on Spirited 1.

Great to catch up with Phil and Virginia.

Very impressed with John's Mom who joined us for 3 days. At 93 years young she certainly showed us how to handle a boat.

Spirited 1 is one of the first out of the mold and is only 2 years old. Here is the link to the builders web site if you want one of your own:

Watch Out John - Here I Come

Celebrating

So, everybodys cancer is different. In Gayes case she has travelled thru her cancer experience relatively unscathed. Due mainly I think to the benefit of early detection.
We are celebrating here post our visit to the oncologist who supported Gayes decision to not take on any further post cancer removal treatment to reduce the chances of recurrence. Should she have taken on either estrogen suppression or estrogen blocking she would have only improved her chances of non-recurrence by 3%. In other words only 3 out of every 100 ladies receive benefit from the drug program. This balanced against the down side of chemical intervention of either increased risk of ovarian cancer or reduced mobility thru arthritic side-effects, she determined on the no drugs option. Which I fully support.

Day 1 Long Service Leave

40 min jog along the headland at Torquay, followed up with a short bike ride. Should be in Queensland on John and jenny's yacht right now, but the weather has conspired against us. Gale force winds and 8m waves.

Me and Senior Detective Davis

Last week at the ICOMS Conference in Perth saw us up the pub after the Gala Dinner at Government House.
We arrive at the pub full of kids and loud music still dressed in our suits (sans ties of course). We were a group of about 12. Mike from the stand opposite us encouraged me to go to the front of the the dance floor, directly in front of the band, where we gave the bouncers a 'your on our team' nod then proceeded to look with seriousness out into the audience of gyrating bodies. The rouse worked, they all thought we were detectives and magically moved a respectable distance away from us - like 20 feet.
