Toby's H28 - Meridee up for some TLC

This is Meridee in the yard at Paynsville. She is an beautiful little H28 built from Oregon. Hmmm, quite a while ago. Toby purchased her a couple of months back in Ullaulla. This is the first time he has slipped her since the initial purchase survey and inspection.

There as a tiller (which broke en route) and starboard rubbing strip (courtesy of an unexpected storm in Paynesville) to be repaired and the motor needed removal for an overhaul. The motor removal revealed the extent of cracked ribs which would need attention.

With some trepidation Toby let me and his Dad loose drilling holes in his precious boat as he mixed epoxy and prepared lengths of ply to laminate up for 'sistering' next to the damaged ribs.

Poor Meridee looked a little forlorn with her broken rubbing strake, bout a couple of nice pieces of Fijian Mahogany bent and screwed into place brought her lines back to her former pretty self.

The weather looked after us during the refurbishment. The little rain with this wonderful thunderstorm didn't interrupt the work program... Well maybe we did get in an extra cup of tea after this photo was taken.

Hastings to Geelong today

Graeme purchased a lovely couta boat the other day in Hastings. Waited a couple of weeks for a good weather window and I joined him to bring her back to Geelong.

Built around 1935-39 for fishing she was, with much attention to detail,  recently restored.

The trip to Geelong took 13 hours. A following breeze and a visit from a po of dolphins made for a great day
